Important Information - Read this first.

Applications should be submitted between 30 November 2007 and 18 April 2008.

Before filling out the Application Form, please read the web pages carefully, including the Frequently Asked Questions.

This Application Form is exclusively for Regular Students; i.e. those who intend to submit an application for the full-time 16 months MAEM/MEMA Master Programme. Those who are interested in taking only one or a few courses, i.e. the so-called Special Students, should use the Application Form for Special Students.

This Application Form is written in English. Prospective MAEM/MEMA students should be able to comprehend it. All open fields can be filled out either in English or French.

A. Application and Selection Criteria

B. Applying for admission to MAEM/MEMA can be done by using this Online Application Service for Regular (Full-time) Students.

In exceptional and justified cases you may send a request via e-mail to the MAEM/MEMA Secretariat (applications@maem-mema.org) in order to obtain the Application Form for Regular Students in MS Word format. The Application Form should be filled out on a computer (hand written Application Forms will not be accepted) and be sent via e-mail to applications@maem-mema.org.
Please note that the MAEM/MEMA Network does not accept paper applications.

Please be aware that applicants should submit only one Application Form. Submitting more than one Application Form may lead to disqualification.
 

C. Online Applications
You will need to:
  1. Open a personal Online Application Account;
     
  2. Fill in all 6 pages of the Application Form;
     
  3. Attach the required documents (e.g. your CV and recommendation letters);
     
  4. Submit the Application Form.
     
The online Application Form will take roughly 30 minutes to be completed. Having a personal account enables you to save partially completed pages and edit/complete them later. Your account will expire once you submit the Application Form.

D. Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission to the MAEM/MEMA programme, applicants must submit a fully completed Application Form and meet the following requirements:
  1. have a Bachelor-level degree (minimum 3 years), preferably in social sciences and related disciplines, recognised by all Network member universities;
  2.  
  3. have a good and active working knowledge of English or and French and at least a passive working knowledge of the other language (candidates must be able to understand, speak and write one of the two languages and at least understand the other one in both languages);
  4.  
  5. have a demonstrable interest in Euro-Mediterranean issues and relations;
  6.  
  7. have a basic knowledge of Human Rights, International Relations, Political Science (for those who choose Specific Track No. 2), Macro and Micro Economics (for those who choose Specific Track No. 4);
  8.  
  9. those who possess a university degree in areas other than the social sciences and related disciplines may be admitted to the Programme if they can demonstrate to have acquired sufficient equivalent knowledge.
 

The selection process will grade applicants on the formal prerequisites as well as on a number of other criteria, such as:

  • University degrees beyond the minimum requirement relevant to the Programme;
  •  
  • Working experience relevant to the Programme;
  •  
  • Language knowledge beyond the minimal requirements relevant to the Programme;
  •  
  • Basic knowledge of Human Rights and International Institutions;
  •  
  • Basic knowledge of the disciplines that are taught in the specific tracks (i.e. Track No. 1: International Relations and International Law; Track No. 2: Political Science); Track No. 4: Macro and Micro Economics);
  •  
  • Motivation to enrol in the Programme.
  •  
The Network may assess the suitability of the students for the Programme through an interview and/or a written exam (both on the basic knowledge required and on the languages of instruction), via telephone or at a Network member institution.
